Alessia Degraeve
Submission Intern
Alessia Degraeve is the submissions intern at GLM. She is a rising senior at Yale University studying English with a Writing Concentration in Nonfiction. She's currently working on a collection of nonfiction essays with her thesis advisor Verlyn Klinkenborg that examine the philosophy of childhood, the ways children are scalded by the entangling mechanisms of their parents’ past, the ways they inherit broken structures that we must learn to live inside and learn to make beautiful. She's interned with the Los Angeles Review of Books where she still contributes reviews. Currently, she's working on a review of Garth Greenwell's upcoming novel Small Rain. Greenwell is one of her favorite authors, in addition to Brian Dillon, Elizabeth Hardwick, Louise Glück, Herman Melville, Rebecca Solnit, and Natalia Ginzburg. In her free time, she enjoys watching the sunset, making cyanotype prints, and listening to jazz.
